Japan has not been kind. Another dose of car difficulties force the retirement of the Ferrari driver from the Suzuka circuit race after he managed to put a P3 qualifying lap together. With penalties for Bottas meaning he did not start from P2, Sebastian Vettel started the race from the front row, along side championship leader Lewis Hamilton who has secured P1.

During the first lap of the race, Max Verstappen seemingly made a move on Vettel to move into second place. Corners later it was obvious that the German was in trouble with issues from the Ferrari power unit.

Before the race, its reported that Ferrari had possible issues with a spark plug of the Germans no.5 car, but believed they had resolved the issue. Once the issue became evident, the team quickly retired the car, leaving the Mercedes of Hamilton to take 2017 victory, with a challenging Max Verstappen just moments behind.
